Designing Reconfigurable Cyber-Physical Systems Using Unified Modeling Language

Technological progress in recent years the Cyber-Physical Systems (CPSs) area has given designers unprecedented possibilities and computational power, but as a consequence, modeled CPSs are becoming increasingly complex, hierarchical, concurrent. Therefore, new methods of design (especially using abstract modeling) needed. The paper presents an approach to CPS control part modeling state machine diagrams from Unified Modelling Language (UML). proposed method attempts combine advantages graphical notation (intuitiveness, convenience, readability) with benefits text specification languages (unambiguity, precision, versatility). UML is transformed Model-Driven Development (MDD) techniques into effective program Hardware Description (HDL), Concurrent Finite State Machine (CFSM) temporary model. obtained HDL can be analyzed, validated, synthesized, finally implemented Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) devices. dynamic, partial reconfiguration (a feature modern FPGAs) allows for exchange algorithm without stopping device. But use this feature, model must safe, which means, that it should possess special idle states, where transferred during process. Applying CFSM greatly facilitates task. offers efficient CPS, automatic translation behavior synthesizable Verilog description, directly FPGA devices, dynamically reconfigured A practical example illustrating successive stages also presented.
